Thank you for agreeing to take part in this little experiment.
My aim is to help as many photographers as possible improve at least one aspect of their photography through Photoshop.
I encouraged beginner level PS users to take part, but if you've come here as an intermediate level user I think you may still benefit. Give it a go and see :)
With this "challenge" I'll be asking you to try something you've probably not tried before, and then to tell me how well you got on with it and how useful you think it will be for helping you improve your craft.
This "something" happens to be a technique called Luminosity Masking. It's one of the most powerful techniques you can master when it comes to creating stunning landscape images in Photoshop. Yet it eludes so many photographers simply because of how complicated it SOUNDS.
It's my goal in this challenge to help you learn how to create your first luminosity mask, even from your current beginner Photoshop level.
There is a short video tutorial below, and there's a written tutorial in PDF which you can download. They both teach how to create your first luminosity mask, but it's definitely worth viewing and reading both, so that it really sinks in.
